Just dropping a quick line to remind you what a fabulous evening we had last night. Our sincere thanks to Gavin Miekle, Maureen Scott and Michael John Smithson, who travelled all the way from the other side of Southampton to support us in our quest to learn the all important evaluation skills.
Lovely to welcome the ‘ticklish’ Dawn Wilson, who as a previous member of Cottonwood, has now agreed to join Casterbridge Speakers and become our club mentor when we charter. Our other club mentor will be Carole Whittaker (should she choose the accept) when she returns from her round the world gallivant. Wonderful to belatedly welcome Chris Tyler who is working in West Dorset temporarily but is based at the Chichester Speakers Club. Although Chichester is a lot further than the Solent – he still doesn’t beat the visit we had from the president of Lucan Toastmasters (Ireland for those of you don’t want to look it up!)
And the best bit till last! In the last few weeks, we have welcomed Pete Early, Steve Richards, Anna Sullock and (paperwork pending) Garry James as brand new members to the club. It’s a while since we had an Icebreaker speech on the agenda. Yippee can’t wait.
We only have two proper meetings before the Christmas break: 17th November and 1st December; usual time 19:15 – 21:30 at the Wessex Royale Hotel, High West Street, Dorchester.
On the 15th December we have planned a Christmas supper, same time, same place, which our treasurer, David Heard, will send out details shortly. The plan is to devote the evening to table topics that everyone will find in their cracker. This is open to partners and other guests. Please pop it in your diary. It will be another fabulous evening and the opportunity to let our friends and family know what we really get up to on a Wednesday evening.
Finally then, best wishes to both Pete and Pippa who were first time guests last night – I do hope you have enjoyed the meeting and will come again in a fortnight’s time to check out your first impression.
