It was a proud evening for the membership of Casterbridge Speakers Club, as they recently celebrated becoming affiliated with Toastmasters International. The Club has joined 25 established clubs in the South West all dedicated to having fun improving the speaking, communication and leadership skills of its members.

This affiliation, known as ‘chartering’, was celebrated in the Wessex Royale Hotel, Dorchester’s ‘room for improvement’ where the club meets on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Past President, Dryden Pennington, was presented with the Presidential badge of office and the Club Charter certificate by Gordon Piggott, Toastmasters Divisional Governor.

Gordon reminded us that Casterbridge Speakers was there to provide the confidence building encouragement for people that can literally changes lives. Dryden Pennington was a valued member of our Masonic Lodge, Whitehill 8425 in Bordon Hampshire. As you probably know he has sadly passed away after a valiant battle against cancer. We are gathering stories and interesting facts about him when we give his eulogy in March at our next meeting. If there is anything you would like to add please can you send them to me it would be most appreciated.
